Professional Development
Boylan Brown has always recognized that its most important assets are its people. The ability to maintain a culture of collaboration, continuing education, professional development and commitment to community has been a cornerstone of the firm since its inception.
In addition to the lifestyle benefits that Boylan Brown attorneys enjoy, the firm strives to maintain an educational culture in which all attorneys and staff are encouraged to hone their skill set and take on new areas of expertise. As a certified CLE provider for the New York State Bar Association, Boylan Brown hosts in-house CLE programs on a variety of topics, making continuing education easily accessible to its attorneys. If an attorney or staff member requires education and training that is not available locally, the firm will pay for the cost of any out-of-town educational programs, including travel expenses.
Professional development at Boylan Brown does not end with legal education. The firm wants its attorneys and staff to understand and be involved in the management of the law firm.
Using a model of “participatory business management,” the Boylan Brown partnership welcomes the advice and opinions of other firm attorneys and support staff, and encourages entrepreneurial thinking and leadership throughout the firm. Associates, counsel, and support staff regularly meet to discuss firm issues, and submit their ideas to the partnership. All employees of the firm have a stake in its success, and their insights help to drive the firm in a positive direction.
Knowing that associates and staff represent the future of the firm, the members of Boylan Brown take great pride and care in mentoring their younger peers. In addition to passing on legal skills that have been honed over the years, our senior attorneys ensure that younger attorneys are directly involved in client relationships, new business development, and firm management. With a solid foundation of education and mentoring, our young attorneys and staff are poised to successfully lead Boylan Brown for many years to come.
