Boylan Brown

Attorneys

What the lawyers at Boylan, Brown have in common are records of high academic achievement and dedication to their profession and to the firm's clients. Otherwise, it is a remarkably diverse group. Many of our lawyers have achieved prominent and respected positions in the community and in the legal profession. A wide variety of practice styles and personal interests comfortably co-exist. The attorneys' commitment of time and energy to our legal practice, however, does not lessen the high priority given to our respective family lives and obligations to the Rochester community. Boylan, Brown is recognized within the profession for its flexibility in addressing the individual needs of its attorneys. Since its inception in 1974, Boylan, Brown, has emphasized - in the context of a well-rounded business practice - an entrepreneurial, imaginative, visionary approach to the practice of law. Accordingly, we have favored practice areas that capitalize on the unique abilities and initiative of our attorneys, where we can add immeasurable value to a transaction or the growth of a business enterprise, over the type of work where legal services are performed on a commodity basis. Whether we are representing an individual or an institution, we see our job as innovative and creative problem-solving in the field of law.

Areas of special emphasis within the firm include intellectual property contracting, environmental permitting and litigation, municipal infrastructure development (particularly in the solid waste management area), estate planning for owners of closely held businesses, and start-up financing and initial private offerings for business ventures. The firm's clientele is a stimulating mix of businesses ranging from small partnerships to national corporations, numerous municipalities, and individuals. In recent years, our practice has increasingly moved from its local base to regional and national involvement within targeted practice areas. Associates fully participate in developing innovative strategies and solutions to meet client needs, and undertake regular client contact with substantial levels of responsibility. Superimposed over a traditional departmental structure are numerous practice groups formed to service particular clients, transactions, or emerging practice areas. The firm has made a strong commitment to meeting the legal needs of all members of our community, and pro bono work is encouraged and supported.
